The major project of my MRes focused on using technology to help us make healthier decisions around buying food.
There were many parts of this project involving researching decision making and captology (the ability of technology to persuade and influence decisions). More on this can be read over at the project site: http://informationdiets.tumblr.com/
The main conclusion however was to propose a solution which obscured information (such as packaging and advertising) from a customer’s vision using Augmented Reality technology.
AR is usually considered in relation to providing people with supplementary digital information. My proposal subverts this by using AR to remove visual noise and data. This principle has influenced much of my subsequent research.
